How to Get the Most Out of the Frequency Hearing Test
Maximise your experience with the Frequency Hearing Test by understanding how to use it effectively. Follow these steps and tips to analyze your hearing sensitivity across different frequencies.
Step 1: Understand the Test
This test plays tones at different frequencies and volumes to help you identify your hearing threshold for each frequency.
Step 2: Adjust Frequency
Use the "Frequency (Hz)" slider to select the frequency of the tone you want to test. Start with lower frequencies and gradually increase.
Step 3: Set Volume
Use the "Volume (dB)" slider to adjust the volume of the tone. Start with a low volume and gradually increase until you can just barely hear the tone.
Step 4: Note Your Threshold
Record the lowest volume (in dB) at which you can hear each frequency. This is your hearing threshold for that frequency.
Step 5: Repeat for Different Frequencies
Repeat steps 2-4 for a range of frequencies to map out your hearing sensitivity.
Tips for Accurate Results
- Use Headphones: Use high-quality headphones in a quiet environment for the most accurate results.
- Avoid Loud Noises: Avoid exposure to loud noises before taking the test.
- Take Breaks: Take breaks during the test to avoid auditory fatigue.
- Consult a Professional: This test is not a substitute for a professional hearing evaluation. Consult an audiologist if you have concerns about your hearing.
Understanding the Results
The "Hearing Threshold (dB)" stat shows the volume in decibels at which you can just barely hear the selected frequency. The "Frequency Reached (Hz)" stat displays the selected frequency being tested.
